Summative Task:
The Creative Self: Colour our World
You have been invited to participate in a group show. The aim of the show is to promote colour!
You may paint a landscape/seascape or a portrait painting.
Using your notes on Fauvist painting, critically consider how to incorporate these elements into your work.
You will be assessed on your use of colour, brushwork and overall composition.
You can also consider "updating" your work by carefully selecting an alternative colour scheme.
If choosing a landscape:
You may use Google Street View to find an area from your home country, or Singapore to screenshot.
You may also take several pictures of the UWC campus.
If choosing a portrait:
You may use yourself, a friend or family member.
You may also use the photo from unit 1 if you wish.
You will have 3-4 lessons to complete your work.

What specifically is required of you to succeed?
Exit: Write a newspaper headline summarising Fauvism.
Homework: Come to the next class with a few photos prepared. You will need this to do a practice painting in A Fauves style.
Lesson 2: Pre-Assessment Practice Painting

Look at the two paintings above.
Review notes on Fauvist painting from the previous class.
Take out your portrait or landscape photo as requested.
Paint it in a Fauvist style. You will have 50 minutes.
When complete, evaluate it on the rubric.

Lesson 3: Planning our Painting
In your books, sketch out your planned composition (half-page).
Using coloured pencils, colour in blocks of area.
Carefully consider colour! Take note of neighbouring colours (analogous).
You will begin your final painting in the next class.
Lesson 4: Painting our Composition
Review Rubric.
Draft out your composition in pencil.
Take note if your dimensions are different than the paper.
It may prove beneficial to use cross-hairs or a grid.
The teacher will demonstrate how to loosely render.
Whilst painting, you should have your photo, coloured pencil sketch and perhaps 2 Fauvist examples in front of you.
Homework:
Have your composition drafted/rendered in pencil ready for the next class.
